Hmm… deadly potholes the, birthplace of a 1973 Pulitzer Prize-winning author Eudora Welty, and home of the Mississippi jig.
Where are we?
Jackson, Mississippi
You may think of Jackson, MS as a struggling town with not much adventure or entertainment.
Due to the lack of nationality is known as sports teams or high traffic amusements many children or millennials may not even know geographically where Jackson lies.
However, because of the recent attitude to revive the city, businesses are striving to rebuild Jackson more than ever and in return providing residents with what I call #JacksonGems.
On Tuesday, May 22, 2018, I had the opportunity to visit another Gem, Fine & Dandy (F&D)|Burgers. Snacks. Cocktails|. A restaurant located in an up and coming modern plaza The District at Eastover.
One thing that sold me with this gem was the pleasing aesthetics of F&D’s interior and exterior that hits you instantly.
My friend and I decided to enjoy Fine&Dandy’s ambiance from the outdoors on their covered patio.
How was the Menu?
F&D’s menu was not overwhelming, very nice, and easy to read which I always look for when dining (the simplicity and delivery). Because we dined at 1:30 pm F&D attached their lunch specials. One thing that stood out was F&D’s variety of burgers, shakes, and artisan cocktails.
The most important part… The Food
My friend decided to try out F&D’s burger “The Standard”, however, my eyes and tastebuds went for their “Worst Ribs in Town”. We shared the “House Cut Fries” and enjoyed Elicio Rosé.
Everything was beautifully prepared and served. Which made me feel like I was dinning in Anthropologie.
The Standard burger was topped with American cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and a specialty mayo.
Their fries had a golden crispy taste topped with a light layer of salt. But, dipping F&D’s fries into their roasted garlic mayo took them over the top. The pairing with house-made mayo was something so simple yet so appetizing.
F&D’s “worst ribs…” blew me away. It was full of flavors that I would have definitely not thought to put together. Four smoked pork baby back ribs with meat so tender inside when cut in half it simply fell apart. The ribs were covered with a thin glaze of pepper jelly which accompanied the ribs quite well making it savory and sweet which made you want to lick your fingers. All topped with crushed peanuts, pickled onions, and chives to tie it all together. These ribs were definitely true to their name… “They Were Nasty!!”
F&D’s service was speedy and relaxing. Their waiter was very helpful and most of all not pushy but accessible. Overall with the Instagram perfect ambiance, mouth-watering delicate food, and elegantly “herb-n” ambiance, Fine & Dandy definitely is a #JacksonGem”n-style”.
